Cemfree empowers the next generation of bricklayer with sustainable building practices

The recent session for bricklayer apprentices took place at the Lee Marley Academy at London South Bank Technical College. The 12 first-year students gained hands-on experience with Cemfree Masonry Mortar, provided by the Cemfree team.

The session included a short overview from Cemfree representative Katie Willis, focusing on Cemfree’s journey, what the Masonry Mortar is, and the benefits behind using ultra-low carbon materials in the construction industry. To follow, students were able to gain practical experience using the masonry mortar to get a feel for the product and see how it positively compares to Portland cement-based mortars .

Christian Hatherall-Good , Training Manager at Lee Marley said: ‘To have Cemfree visit the Lee Marley academy was a great opportunity to broaden  the learning of the apprentices by making them aware of Ultra-low carbon cement and embodied carbon. Helping to educate the builders of the future

Katie Willis, Major Accounts Manager at Cemfree, said: “It is always exciting visiting colleges and witnessing the next generation of construction professionals adopt what we envision as the future of building materials. The positive impact of educating the industry on sustainable practices cannot be overstated, and we are proud to be part of the change happening in our industry.”

As Cemfree continues to spearhead the movement towards sustainable construction practices, the strides made in educating and empowering the next generation of bricklayers underscore its commitment to a greener and more responsible industry, and a future where today’s students evolve into the leaders of a more resilient built environment.
