Game-Changing Cemfree Showcased At Ecobuild

Date Added: 02/03/2015

Cemfree, the world’s first truly sustainable concrete, with the potential to revolutionise the construction industry, is to be showcased at Ecobuild on the 3rd – 5th March 2015 (stand number N3042).

Cemfree is a zero-cement structural concrete that uses a by-product of other industries to provide up to a 95% reduction in CO2, compared with Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC). If Cemfree was used at capacity in the UK alone it would account for a saving of over 2 million tonnes of CO2 a year, which is equivalent to taking 750,000 cars off the road.

Chris Howard, CEO at David Ball Group says: “Cemfree is a game changer for the construction industry by providing an innovative and viable solution to reducing the carbon legacy of concrete. The product offers construction companies, developers and contractors the scope to reduce the carbon footprint of their developments, meeting industry sustainability and energy efficiency targets.

“Since its launch, Cemfree has received considerable interest from industry on an international scale, particularly in countries committed to their green agenda but determined to continue their rate of growth. We have been delighted with the support for Cemfree, which only demonstrates the industry’s commitment to improve its green credentials.”

Cemfree has been awarded several high profile accolades, including the coveted Supply Chain Green Solutions Awards from Skanska UK, the CONSTRUCT award for materials and product innovation, as well as being named the winner of the Shell Springboard Awards.
