Award-winning Cemfree zero-cement concrete launched at Ecobuild 2014

Date Added: 09/01/2014

David Ball Group is pleased to announce that they are launching their revolutionary new product Cemfree at Ecobuild this year. Ecobuild, the world’s largest event for sustainable design, construction and the built environment, takes place on the 4th-6th March 2014 at the ExCel Exhibition and Conference Centre in London.

Concrete is the most widely used material in the world and plays an important part in our everyday lives shaping the built environment around us. It accounts for around 5-8 % of total CO2 emissions in the form of greenhouse gases, making it the third highest producer of CO2 after transport and energy generation. Twice as much concrete is used around the world than the total of all other building materials put together so it is essential to come up with a sustainable solution to concrete’s carbon legacy.

Following years of intensive research and testing, Cambridge based materials specialist David Ball Group has launched Cemfree, a low carbon, no-cement concrete. Through a patented advance in concrete activation, Cemfree replaces all of the Ordinary Portland Cement content of conventional concrete, saving up to 98% of CO2 per tonne of concrete.
